awesome knowledge ... awesome knowledge and clear experience, thank you.?
Thank you very much ... Thank you very much for this informative video, we've just bought our first DSLR (Canon 550D) and this video helps us to make the right choice? for a new objective.
@pandanese90 Just ... @pandanese90 Just remember that zoom and magnification are two different aspects of lenses. 18-135 is a 7.5 zoom. 135 divided by 18 = 7.5. That's the range of zoom capabilities. 50mm is often cited as being the same as what we see with our eyes. So a 100mm lens would be double the magnification and 135mm would be? 2.7 magnification. So "normal" is actually what we consider to be close to our own vision, 50mm in dslr's. Some say 35mm is closer but I think that may refer to film not digital.
@pandanese90? The ... @pandanese90? The 18-135 would be referred to as a zoom lens. This particular zoom has a very wide range from wide angle (18) to medium telephoto (135). "Normal" on this lens would depend on the sensor in your camera. If you have a full frame sensor, normal is around 50mm. If you have an APS or APS-C, cropped
sensor, more likely, normal with that lens and that sensor would be around 30-40mm.
I have a 18-135mm ... I have a 18-135mm lens, thats not a? telephoto lens right? I think its normal, but what I zoom in to 100 or 135mm is that still considered 'normal'?
@althegreat17 ... @althegreat17 Thanks for bringing up a valid point. It is important to have a prime lens aside from? the fix focal length. Thanks for sharing.

@whole27 So if you ... @whole27 So if you are asking is there such a lens for everything? everyday use? big apperture? and etc. Well you can check lenses like the canon 24-100mm F4, 24-70mm F2.8 or maybe the 18-200mm. Its not the best lens for everything but? its great for everyday and general use.
@whole27 ok.. lets ... @whole27 ok.. lets get this straight. there are lots of lenses to choose from.. and each of these lenses has their own specialty. For example, If you are into landscape photography.. well having a wide angle lens is great. Second, if you are? into wildlife or sports, having telephoto is definitely a must
@althegreat17 yea ... @althegreat17 yea but i'm assuming the zoom lens glass is basically the same as any other lens glass....no one seems? to be able to explain this to me properly. Why is one lens different than another? What exactly differs and why can't one lens be great at everything and by everything there is only a few features any lens offers like apperture, DOF, etc??
Why isn't there one lens u can use for everything?
@whole27 not really ... @whole27 not really! a good lens is not all about having a long? zoom! you also need to consider the quality of the glass, apperture, build quality and etc..
@althegreat17 well ... @althegreat17 well i never had a dslr but i'm planning on getting one and am trying to learn as much as possible now and? i only care about taking Video but i would think the zoom(more options) would always be better than just one option, right?
@whole27 well at ... @whole27 well at some point, it depends upon the user.. personally i love using primes at night? w/o flash.. and also for videography.. its really depends on the user
@althegreat17 and ... @althegreat17 and bigger apertures mean better AF or image quality? The prime lenses seem to be too one dimensional....why get them when you can have? lenses that can do basically the same thing plus many more zooms
Thank? You Thank? You
Maybe I'm wrong but ... Maybe I'm wrong but most prime lens are more? expensive?
@mrgloop53? I was ... @mrgloop53? I was thinking the same thing when I saw it...lol
Good info.? Good info.?
this is really ... this is really accesable to joe average (thats me). Clear and understandable and using kit lenses and the cheap 50mm. rather than a table full? of lenses you need to sell a kidney for and hide from your wife for 6 months.
Finally, a well ... Finally, a well composed video. Simple, straight? to the point and informative. Perfect. Thanks a lot.
you? forgot to ... you? forgot to mention the main idea of having a prime lens, aside from the fix focal length. Prime lens has bigger apertures compared to other lenses. Anyway, the vid is educational! Cheers
great vid? for ... great vid? for beginners mate!..i've just subscribed!
